UNION Minister U Myint Kyaing and Myanmar's Consul-General to China U Thawta Aung met Chinese officials on 21 September in Kunming, Yunnan Province, to discuss immigration management in border areas. During the meeting, they highlighted the cooperation between the two countries during the COVID-19 outbreak in the Ruili-Muse region and stressed the importance of maintaining border stability and facilitating legal entry and exit.

The discussions also covered the one-way project in Yunnan Province, mutual information sharing for border peace, inbound and outbound immigration activities, and the resumption of border checkpoints post-COVID-19. Both sides emphasized the peaceful passage of citizens for social and economic activities while ensuring border security and preventing illegal entry, drug trafficking, and online gambling.

The Union minister and officials from Yunnan State explored ways to enhance immigration management activities along the extensive Myanmar-China border.
