TODAY is the 149th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which comprises 192 member countries and stands as A Truly Universal Network emphasizing the collaboration among the member countries with technical support and rules and regulations for postal services, said State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo during the ceremony of the 149th anniversary of World Post Day yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw.

He then talked about the effective use of digital and ICT in postal services for the public despite the hardships of running the postal network during the COVID-19 period.

He added that the theme of this year’s World Post Day is “Together for Trust” and all should provide the people with safe postal services as the key of the services including post is the customer trust.

Then, the video message of the Switzerland-based UPU Director-General was played.

Next, the Union minister presented awards to winners of the 52nd international letter-writing competition for youth (local level, under 15).
