THE opening ceremony of language courses for staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was jointly conducted by the Strategic Studies and Training Department and the Yangon University of Foreign Languages, was held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The opening speech was delivered by U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs. MoFA staff will learn UN official languages: English, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish languages and other languages like Thai, Korean, German, Japanese and Italian in these language courses. Moreover, Dr Kyi Shwin, Rector of Yangon University of Foreign Languages, also conveyed a welcoming speech during the ceremony.

These language courses will be conducted by the Yangon University of Foreign Languages for the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via online system and in person respectively starting from 13 October 2023.

A l t o g e t h e r 1 9 4 trainees from the Union Minister’s office as well as departments concerned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will participate. During the language courses, participants will be trained to develop skills for the proficient and effective use of the respective languages in their practical fields.
