THE 103rd Myanmar Motion Picture Day and 46th respect-paying ceremony to aged film artistes were held at the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization yesterday.
It was attended by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, and patrons and artistes of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization.
During the event, the patrons and executive committee members of the organization received K35.7 million donated by the State Administration Council, Ministry of Information, Yangon Region government and donors, Forever Group Co Ltd and the film industry, and K16.3 million worth a six-month package of Sky Net DTH and DTH device donated by the Sky Net.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Union minister highlighted the efforts of the elderly who serve the interests of the country, regions and the public with their outstanding performance, resuming of Myanmar film industry that is almost suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
He also talked about holding of discussion with the organization to hold the Academy Award presentation ceremony for 2023 in Nay Pyi Taw. Moreover, he said the government and the public love art and so the artistes should cooperate in their respective fields to emerge creative artworks in the future.
Next, the Yangon Region chief minister said words expressing sympathetic joy. The 13 October 1920, the day on which the film “Metta Hnint Thu Rah” screened at the cinema, was designated as the Myanmar Motion Picture Day, and this year marks the 46th respect-paying ceremony to aged film artistes.
