A Myanmar delegation including senior police officers led by Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Chief of Myanmar Police Force Lt-Gen Ni Lin Aung participated in the 41st ASEANAPOL Conference held in Vientiane, Laos from 17 to 19 October.

The conference was also joined by Chief and Senior Officers of the Police Force from 10 ASEAN member countries, Executive Director and Senior Police Officers of the ASEAN Police Secretariat, Police Chiefs and Senior Police Officers from partner organizations/nations: China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, New Zealand, Turkiye, Britain, Australia, senior officers from ASEAN Secretariat, partner countries/organizations: Canada, France, Fiji, Timor-Leste, Italy, United Arab Emirates, International Association of Chiefs of Police-IACP, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) based in the US.

The conference held the meeting of the 12th Executive Committee on 16 October. On 17 October, the opening ceremony of the 41st ASEAN Police Conference, First Plenary Meeting, Forum of Leaders of Delegation of ASEAN Police Member States, Meeting of Leaders of Delegations from ASEAN Police Member States and Dialogue Parties, Commission A, B, C meetings were held. On 18 October, a golf tournament between the leaders of the ASEAN Police was held. On 19 October, the Second Plenary Session and the Closing Ceremony of the 41st ASEAN Police Conference were held.

The Commission A, B, and C meetings discussed mutual assistance in criminal matters such as drug trafficking, violence, arms smuggling, human trafficking, wildlife crimes, maritime fraud, business fraud, bank fraud, cybercrime, forgery of travel documents, transnational fraud, electronic database system of ASEAN police, and matters related to ASEAN police capacity building programme and forensic science linkages.

On 19 October, Police Major-General Kamkim Phouilamanyvong, Deputy Minister for Laos Ministry of Public Security and Chief of Police handed over the emblem of the ASEAN Police to Myanmar Police Chief Lt-Gen Ni Lin Aung, as Myanmar will host the 42nd ASEAN Police Conference in 2024.

The video titled “Landscapes of Myanmar” was played at the hand-over ceremony. The Myanmar delegation arrived back in Yangon yesterday.
