ACCORDING to information that the transnational drug cartels will transport the drugs to Malaysia by sea, the Myanmar Navy conducted inspections about 157 miles from the southwest of Kawthoung on 30 October.
The Myanmar Navy arrested Min Min Soe, Aung Min Thu, Thura Oo (1), Yan Paing Soe, Myint Htun, Win Hlaing Oo and Thura Oo (2) with 2,600 kilogrammes of Ice worth K104 billion from a motorboat heading to Malaysia.
According to the testimony of the arrested offenders, a fugitive, Nyi Nyi, transports the drugs to Malaysia by sea connecting with drug dealers in Malaysia. If the drugs reach the Malaysia Territorial Sea, they have to be transferred to the buyer in Malaysia who is linked with the fugitive Nyi Nyi.
The Myanmar government has launched efforts to effectively prevent and combat drug trafficking, which causes danger to the human race including the next generations, as a national responsibility.
In addition, it has been found that transnational drug cartels are using the advantage of the sea and changing the use of maritime routes because of the joint drug prevention and suppression operations of respective personnel in cooperation with neighbouring countries.
Therefore, the relevant officials have taken legal action against the offenders and an investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators of the crime chain including the fugitive Nyi Nyi. Similarly, it is announced that the informers and those who cooperate with the arrests will be given a reward privately.
