THE Supreme Court of the Union issued Notification Nos 961/2023, 962/2023, 963/2023, 964/2023, and 965/2023 on 27 October 2023 to authorize the copyright courts for jurisdiction and jurisdiction over appeals and revisions of judgements, orders and decisions made by copyrights court which are authorized under the Copyright Law which was exercised effective 31 October 2023 as per Notification No 218/2023 of the State Administration Council issued on 18 October 2023, and Notification No 973/2023 on Procedures for Adjudicating Suits under the Copyright Law.

  1. Notification No 961/2023 – The Yangon Region High Court is authorized for adjudicating power of the Intellectual Property Court to examine the following cases under the Copyright Law Section 63 (c) and (e).
  1. pleas over decisions of the agency under the Copyright Law Section 5
  2. pleas over suspension of the Director-General of the Customs Department under the Copyright Law Section 68
  1. Notification No 962/2023 – The following courts are authorized for adjudicating power of the Intellectual Property Court to examine primary cases to be taken action under the same law under the Copyright Law section 63 (c).

(a) Self-Administered Division Court

(b) Self-Administered Zone Courts

(c) District Courts

3. Notification No 963/2023 – The Region and State High Courts are authorized to adjudicate over appeals and revisions against judgements, orders and decisions made by Self-Administered Division Courts, Self-Administered Zone Courts and District Courts in their respective areas under the Copyright Law Section 63 (d).

4. Notification No 964/2023 – The Kyauktada District Court is conferred the adjudicating authority of the Intellectual Property Court to examine the following cases under the Copyright Law Section 63 (c).

     (a) civil cases over breaching of copyrights prescribed in the Copyright Law

     (b) application for provisional measures under the Copyright Law Section 73 (a)

5. Notification No 965/2023 – The Yangon Region High Court is conferred the adjudicating power over appeals and revisions against judgements, orders and decisions of civil cases made by the Intellectual Property Court under the Copyright Law Section 63 (d).

6. Notification No 973/2023 – The Procedures for Adjudicating Suits under the Copyright Law are released exercising the authority under Subsection (a) of the Copyright Law Section 101.
