THE opening ceremony of the 2023 Inter-State and Region Taekwondo Tournament, jointly organized by the Sports and Physical Education Department of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Myanmar Taekwondo Federation, was held at Wunna Theikdi Stadium A in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

SAC members Daw Dwe Bu, Porel Aung Thein, Dr Hmu Thang, Dr Ba Shwe, U Shwe Kyein, U Yan Kyaw, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, departmental officials, officials from the Myanmar Taekwondo Federation, administrators, coaches, athletes, and departmental staff attended the ceremony.

Myanmar Olympic Committee Chair Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan explained the objectives of the competition.

Following that, athletes from the participating teams, who will compete in the inter-state and regional Taekwondo competitions, recited the four oaths of sports.

SAC members, Union Ministers, officials, team administrators, coaches from competing teams, athletes, and referees watched the Taekwondo Individual (Male/Female) competitions on the first day of the event.

A total of 280 athletes from 15 men’s teams and 15 women’s teams will compete in the 2023 inter-state and regional Taekwondo competition at Wunna Theikdi Stadium A from 7 to 11 November.
