THE Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the proposed appointment of Mrs Aya Saad Mohamed Abdelkarim as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar with residence in Yangon.

Mrs Aya Saad Mohamed Abdelkarim obtained a Bachelor’s in Economics and Political Science from Cairo University, Egypt, in 1989 and a Diploma in International Relations from France Institut Internationale d’Administration Publique, Paris, France, in 1995. She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt in 1992 and served in various capacities at both headquarters and abroad. She served as Second Secretary of the IT Department from 2001 to 2003, as Counsellor at the Legal Department from 2009 to 2010 and as Deputy Assistant at the International Conferences Department from 2014 to 2016 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As overseas assignments, she has served as a Second Secretary at the Embassy of Egypt in Hungary from 1997 to 2001, as a Counsellor at the Embassy of Egypt in Kuwait from 2004 to 2008, as a Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Egypt in Serbia from 2010 to 2014 and as an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt in Mauritius from 2016 to 2020. Since 2021, she has been serving as Deputy Assistant Minister for the European Union at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.
