THE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Thit Linn Ohn attended the Altai Regatta Dragon Festival held in Barnaul, Altai Krai, Siberia, from 28 June to 1 July.

Approximately 600 athletes from ASEAN countries, including Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, as well as from India, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Russia, participated in the festival. The Myanmar team secured the first place in the 200-metre and 500-metre races in the men’s D-10 boat category, fostering friendly relations among the participating countries, according to the report.

During his visit, the ambassador met the regional government, led by Governor Mr Viktor Tomenko of Altai Krai. They discussed bilateral relations between Myanmar and Altai Krai, focusing on trade and investment development, social and sports cooperation, and promoting tourism between the two regions.

The ambassador also visited the Altai State Pedagogical University in Barnaul and the Divo Altai LLC oil plant, where he exchanged views on potential cooperation in the respective sectors.
