THE Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi arrived on 3 July in Nyanchi and Lulan of the Xizang Autonomous Region to attend the fourth China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation and Vice-President of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Mr Zhu Zhenghui welcomed the Myanmar delegation.
The Union minister had a friendly meeting with the representatives of the countries attending the forum and discussed issues related to forestry and environmental conservation.
In the afternoon, the Union minister discussed the conservation of the traditional Tibetan highland grasslands and pastures located at an altitude of 3,700 metres between mountains and glaciers. They also paid observation tours in agricultural and livestock activities, local people-based tourism activities and the life and traditional culture of local Tibetan people and their livelihoods.
In the evening, the Union minister and representatives from member countries attended the forum’s reception dinner in Lulan.
At the ceremony, CPC Secretary Mr Wang Junzheng of the Xizang Autonomous Region and Vice-President Mr Zhu Zhenghui gave welcome speeches, and representatives of the participating countries made friendly introductions and greetings.
On 2 July, the Myanmar delegation led by the Union minister arrived in Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region. Director Ms Nie Xunli of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China greeted them at Lasagonga Airport. They frankly discussed matters related to environmental conservation and human resource development, forest conservation, biodiversity conservation, and tourism development between the two countries.
In the evening, the Union minister and delegation went to the open-air theatre in Lhasa to watch the Princess Wencheng Opera, a traditional Tibetan cultural show.
