State Administration Council member Daw Dwe Bu attended the Myanmar Women’s Day event held in the Kachin State Public Sports Ground in Myikyina yesterday morning.

The ceremony was opened by members of Kachin State Women’s Affairs Federation singing a song celebrating Women’s Day.

SAC Member Daw Dwe Bu, in her opening speech, said that Myanmar Women’s Day is held every year to recognize and honour the achievements of Myanmar women. She also added that she would like to encourage women’s rights to be emphasized through people’s organizations and their abilities to be developed.

Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan then gave a speech of honour. SAC member Daw Dwe Bu presented awards to Business Sector winner Daw Lwin Lwin Maw, outstanding Red Cross award winner Daw Aye Aye Ngwe, and Social Sector Excellence Award winner Daw Khin Lay May at the award ceremony.
The SAC member and officials toured the galleries displayed by the Department of Social Welfare commemorating Myanmar Women’s Day.

In the afternoon, the SAC member, the Kachin State chief minister and officials visited the Social Welfare Department’s in-house vocational training school in Shansutaung Ward, Myitkyina and provided cash. Next, they arrived at the Mahasi Sasana Yeiktha Monastery in Aung Nann Ward and provided necessary items to 156 flood victims of 25 households.

Daw Dwe Bu also inspected the volunteer work of the road department, city development committee members, and the fire brigade, who are cleaning up the soil with machinery due to the rise of the river in Legon Ward, Myitkyina. She presented cash to the volunteer staff for their excellent efforts.
