Dr Thet Thet Khaing, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism, participated in the Myanmar-India Tourism Cooperation Coordination Meeting held at Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon yesterday. The meeting included the Director-General of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, Deputy Secretary of the Indian Embassy Mr Ashok Kumar, representatives from the India-Myanmar Businessmen’s Association, the president of the Myanmar Tourism Federation, and officials from relevant associations.
During the meeting, the Union Minister emphasized the aim of enhancing bilateral tourism cooperation between Myanmar and India, leveraging up collaboration between their respective governments and private sectors. Myanmar and India are closely engaged in ASEAN+India, BIMSTEC, SASEC, and Mekong-Ganges tourism frameworks. She then expressed the desire to discuss tourism promotion strategies to attract more Indian tourists to Myanmar.
Discussions among attendees focused on Myanmar’s hotels and tourism sector development, increasing Indian tourist arrivals, operational aspects of domestic and international airlines, Myanmar-India tourism cooperation, and relevant procedural frameworks.
