THE Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement has announced that there is a need for people to be careful because landslides are common during June, July and August.
The statement says landslides cause very little loss of property, but the loss of human life and injuries are high. There were 26 landslides nationwide, 36 residential buildings were damaged, and 44 people lost their lives during the 2023-2024 financial year. Landslides are common from June to August and occur occasionally during the rest of the period.
Therefore, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement is working to protect the people with the participation of the public in order to reduce the damage caused by the landslides.
In addition, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement has announced that people can request assistance regarding natural disasters by contacting the 24-hour hotline numbers 067 3404 666 and 067 3404777.
