UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat illegal trade continue effectively in accordance with the law.
On 29 July, combined teams managed by the Customs Department conducted inspections. They seized India-made erythropoietin injection IP 452 vials worth approximately K31.56 million at the Yangon International Airport and 11 illegal items worth K150,000, including India-made 100 pieces of sterile medical disposable goods disproven at the Airport (warehouse). The action was taken in accordance with Customs procedures.
On 29 July, a combined team managed by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections. It seized 1,200 packs of Thai-made Nestle Milo, two other commodities valued at approximately K5.5 million and one Zhong Tong bus worth K30 million at the Nyaungkhasyay X-ray checkpoint. The action was taken in accordance with Customs Procedures.
On 30 July, a combined team managed by the Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections. It seized 80 gallons of illegal diesel and 109 gallons of petrol worth K1.85 million at the Yadanabon checkpoint in Sagaing Township. The action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Product Law.
On 31 July, a combined team managed by the Taninthayi Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections. It seized 164.8 kilogrammes of illegal lead worth approximately K4.944 million and one MV Manizawta landing craft worth approximately K453.285 million in Bokpyin Township. The action was carried out as per Customs procedures.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that seven arrests were made on 29, 30 and 31 July, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods worth approximately K527.3 million.
