UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat illegal trade continue effectively in accordance with the law.
On 18 August, a combined team managed by the Kayin State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections. It seized five commodities worth approximately K25.5 million, including Thaimade Smart fabric softener 1,200 packs, and one Nissan Condor truck worth approximately K25 million near Naunglon Village, Hpa-an Township. The action was taken in line with Customs procedures.
Likewise, a combined team managed by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections on 18 August. It seized three commodities worth approximately K3.8 million, including a total of 180 bottles of 5-litre vegetable cooking oil produced by Thailand and one Jinbei mini-bus valued at K30 million in DaikU. On 19 August, the team also seized two commodities worth approximately K2.28 million, including 900 packs of Thaimade Yum Yum instant noodles and one KIA Bongo worth K20 million near Phayargyi Township. The action was taken as per Customs procedures. On 20 August, the team seized a total of 2.333 tonnes of illegal timber worth approximately K1.244 million within Taungoo and Bago districts, and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 19 August, a combined team managed by the Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections. It seized an un registered Honda Fit valued at approximately K8.5 million at the Yadanabon checkpoint in Sagaing Township and eight unregistered motorbikes worth approximately K700,000 in Monywa Township. The action was taken under the Import-Export Law.
On 19 August, a combined team managed by the Customs Department conducted inspections. It seized six China-made Itel mobile phones worth K900,000 at the Yangon Airport (warehouse), four commodities worth approximately K333.6 million, including 610 Chigo air conditioners, at the Myanma Industrial Port, four commodities worth approximately K353.68 million, including 8,593 female coats, at the TMT Port. The action was carried out according to Customs procedures.
On 20 August, a combined team managed by the Nay Pyi Taw Council Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections. It seized 2.629 tonnes of illegal timber worth approximately K2.3 million in Ottara District. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 23 arrests on 18, 19 and 20 August, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods worth approximately K808 million.
