MYANMA Railways suspended train services starting on 27 July due to heavy rainfalls that flooded the railways in Kyaunggon, Kangyidaunt and Yekyi townships, Ayeyawady Region, along the Pathein-Hinthada-Kyangin section.

According to the measurement made on 19 August, the water level decreased one inch below the railway track along the Zayethla-Yekyi section, and officials approved that it was usable. The railway section reopened at 9 am on 19 August, and trains on the Pathein-Hinthada-Kyangin route resumed yesterday.

Moreover, the up and down trains to and from Pathein-Hinthada-Kyangin will resume on 21 August.
