IN an operation on 7 September, security forces in Kengtung Township, Eastern Shan State, seized over 1.04 tonnes of methamphetamine, valued at approximately K8.37 billion.

The seizure occurred around 4:30 am near Yankyein village on the Mongla-Kengtung road, where a Toyota Hilux Revo was intercepted acting on a tip-off. Authorities discovered a substantial cache of methamphetamine hidden in the vehicle. Preliminary investigations suggest that the drugs were intended for trafficking from Kengtung to Monghpyak Township.

Legal action has been initiated against those involved, and further investigations into related criminal activities are ongoing.
