THOSE seeking to establish political parties are submitting applications to the Union Election Commission (UEC), specifying the name of the party they intend to form. As of today, a total of 17 groups have applied for permission to establish a political party, with 14 political parties already having been granted permission.

Among the 14 political parties granted permission, the Social and Economic Development Party, led by U Kyin Wann, has submitted an application to register as a political party within 30 days from the date of permission under Article 7 of the Political Parties Registration Law.

Of the 14 political parties that applied for registration, 11 have already been granted registration approval. UEC continues to scrutinize the remaining applications for approval.
