DEPUTY Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Phyo Zaw Soe participated in a meeting and business matching event with delegations from tour operators and agencies from the Russian Federation as part of a familiarization trip aimed at promoting Myanmar-Russia tourism on 25 October in Yangon.

The Yangon Region economic minister, officials from tourism associations in Myanmar, representatives from the Russian Embassy to Myanmar, the Central Bank of Myanmar, Myanmar insurance companies, airlines, and representatives from hotels and tourism companies were present on the occasion.

The deputy minister highlighted efforts to enhance connectivity between significant tourism destinations. The new flight route from Yangon to Pathein, NyaungU, and Mandalay commenced on 13 October. Myanmar has granted a oneyear visa exemption for Russian tourists holding ordinary passports, aiming to attract more visitors from Russia. U Phyo Zaw Soe also expressed a commitment to fostering sustainable cultural and tourism exchanges between Myanmar and Russia.

The Myanmar Tourism Federation president and the economic attaché from the Russian Embassy shared remarks. A delegate from the familiarization trip provided insights into their experiences and discussed information needed to facilitate smoother travel to Myanmar.

Business matching activities continued in the evening between tourism companies from the Russian Federation and hotels and tourism companies from Myanmar.
