A Myanmar delegation led by State Administration Council Member Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae attended the ninth Ministerial Level Bilateral Cooperation Meeting between the Ministry of Public Security of Laos and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Myanmar held in Vientiane from 21 to 23 January.
On 22 January, the Senior Officials Meeting between the two ministries was held, followed by the Ministerial Level Meeting.
The meeting was attended by a delegation led by Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae while the Laos side was led by General Vilay Lakhampong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security.
During the meeting, both sides cordially discussed matters relating to promoting bilateral cooperation in security and law enforcement between the two countries, telecom fraud and cybercrime, cross-border gambling, eliminating illegal drugs and human trafficking, and cooperation in fugitive investigations.
Moreover, they discussed the enhancement of cooperation between BLOs of the two countries, further cooperation in combating illegal entry and exit of humans and commodities via border areas under laws and procedures of the two countries, uncovering and transferring of terrorist groups and members who were declared as fugitives and establishment of communication system to exchange of information about transnational crimes on time.
After the meeting, the two ministers signed and exchanged the meeting minutes.
In the evening, the Myanmar delegation joined the dinner hosted by General Vilay Lakhampong.
The Myanmar delegation arrived back in Yangon on 23 January.
