The “Project Completion Workshop” and the “Regional Workshop” of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2022) were held at Hotel Max in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Min Thu delivered an opening speech, followed by remarks from Mr Zhang Zhonghua, First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, who highlighted the importance of the Mekong region and China-Myanmar relations.

A commemorative video showcasing projects implemented under the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund was screened, followed by project officials explaining their respective activities through posters. Experts, professors and representatives from China, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan, along with officials from relevant departments and researchers, presented their findings and answered questions from attendees.

The first project under the 2022 fund, the MLC-Education Project on water conservation and environmental awareness, was launched in November 2022 and completed in November 2024. The second project, the MLC-Medicinal Plants Project, focuses on cultivating and preserving medicinal plant species in Myanmar’s Mekong region. It started in November 2023 and will continue until October 2025.
