The Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization (MMPO) will celebrate its 79th anniversary on 8 March with various programmes, an official of the organization said during a media briefing held at the MMPO office on 4 March.
The 79th-anniversary ceremony will include the unveiling of bronze statues of film pioneers and the opening of Centenary Square at 9 am, followed by talks with MMPO’s film training graduates, actors from the video era, and receptionists who served at the Myanmar Film Academy Award ceremonies, ending with a meal.
At 12:30 pm, the classic film ‘Ngaba’ will be screened at the Golden Jubilee Hall, followed by a fun event at the MMPO premises from 3 pm to 6 pm, featuring karaoke, a lucky draw offering prizes from K10,000 to K300,000 for needy artistes, free food and drinks, games, and photo opportunities.
“Last year, the 78th anniversary was celebrated as a simple pre-event. This year, we plan to celebrate it on a larger scale. We aim to include all film professionals from various roles and levels,” said MMPO Secretary U Zaw Myint Oo.
In addition, as a special programme, the Myanmar Motion Pictures Museum will also open on that day.
