Officials destroyed opium poppy fields in Hopong Township, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, in Shan State (South) on the morning of 10 March.
The fields were located in Tahlyanoe and Kyaukkacha villages within the Sanphuu village-tract.
The operation involved Police Major Htay Aung and members of the township police force, Captain Naing Ko Lin and Tatmadaw members from Hopong Station, as well as responsible personnel from the township general administration department, agriculture department and forest department.
Authorities destroyed eight acres of poppy fields – four acres in Tahylanoe village and another four acres in Kyaukkacha village.
A total of 48 acres of irrigated opium poppy fields were destroyed in Hopong Township from 3 to 10 March.
