The Nepal-Myanmar Trade and Tourism Expo was held yesterday at the Lotte Hotel in Yangon.
Union Minister U Tun Ohn highlighted that this event marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He also expressed the hope to strengthen trade relations between Myanmar and Nepal by exploring potential goods for mutual exchange. Both countries share similar values in faith and culture, so they aim not only to expand trade but also enhance tourism. He stressed the need for closer collaboration between governments and private sector businesses in both nations to develop the tourism industry, hold reciprocal trade fairs, and promote human resources development.
Following the speech, Ambassador of Nepal to Myanmar Mr Harishchandra Ghimire along with President of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry U Aye Win delivered remarks. The Union minister and other officials visited the exhibition booths showcasing products from both countries and attended a dinner banquet.
The event saw Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, officials and business leaders from both countries. The exhibition, featuring 30 companies from Myanmar and 16 from Nepal will run until 22 March.
