Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Min Thu attended the closing ceremony of two projects supported by India’s Quick Impact Projects initiative. The event was held yesterday afternoon at the Environmental Conservation Department and marked the conclusion of the Departmental E-Library Project and the Water Supply Using Solar Power in the Drought-Affected Villages of Central Dry Zone of Myanmar Project.
In his speech, the Deputy Minister highlighted that India’s assistance had enabled the department’s library to be upgraded into a Departmental E-Library, providing electronic access to environmental data, research materials and literature. This plan is expected to enhance the efficiency of environmental monitoring and research among staff. Two more water supply projects were completed using solar-powered water pumps – one in Kadaung Village, Inntaiggyi Village-tract, Magway Township, Magway Region and another in Suyittan Village, Zayatgon Village-tract, Meiktila Township, Mandalay Region. He expressed gratitude to the Government of India and the Indian Embassy in Myanmar for their support and reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to strengthening long-term bilateral relations.
Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur commended the timely completion of the projects. The event also featured project presentations, a video screening and an official inauguration of the Departmental E-Library, where department officials and Indian embassy representatives toured the facility after a traditional fragrance-spraying ceremony.
