Former Prime Minister of Nepal Mr Madhav Kumar Nepal and his delegation, who attended the “Forum on Myanmar Beyond 2025: Challenges and Opportunities in the Multipolar World” held in Nay Pyi Taw on 21 March, arrived at Bagan-NyaungU Airport from Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The chairman and members of the NyaungU District Administration Body and the NyaungU Township Administration Body warmly welcomed them.
Following their arrival, the former Prime Minister and his team visited the Shwezigon Pagoda and King Bayintnaung’s Bell within the pagoda compound.
They then toured the Bagan Archaeological Museum, where they viewed round ancient statues displayed in the main gallery and enjoyed a panoramic view of the ancient cultural landscape of Bagan from the Nan Myint Tower.
In the afternoon, they visited the southern slope of the Ananda Buddha to pay homage, where young girls from Yepokkyi Village, Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region, greeted them. Mr Madhav Kumar Nepal, his wife, and Strategic Analyst Mr Atul Aneja of India and his wife participated in traditional Thanaka painting and Myanmar hairstyle preparation.
The visit continued with homage paid at the Thatbyinnyu Pagoda and Bu Pagoda.
