As the Union Election Commission manages the casting votes at the Multiparty Democratic General Election with the use of Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine, a trainer course 1/2025 for using MEVM was opened at an annexe to the UEC office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, UEC Chairman U Ko Ko said that to provide training for those who will be supervising the use of voting machines, the Union Election Commission has conducted trainer training programmes on the use of voting machines. In 2024, a total of nine training sessions were held, with attendance of 227 staff members from various regions and states. This current training is the first session for 2025, and more sessions will continue to be held. As this is a trainer training programme, the trainees must learn thoroughly and diligently to gain proficiency.

The training course will comprise the ways of installing MEVM, test voting, installation of the machine at the polling booths on election day, counting votes, compilation of the vote list under the rules, and packaging of the MEVM.

The ceremony was attended by UEC members and officials.

Trainees from Magway and Ayeyawady Election Subcommission offices are attending the course till 26 March.
