ON 21 March, security forces entered Moephyu and Moekwe villages in Yaylekyun area of Yesakyo Township, Magway Region. Reports from certain media outlets claimed that over 50 residents, including elderly people and children, were arrested. However, these reports were found to be false and spread by subversive media sources.

An official responsible for security in the area clarified that, upon investigation, the claims were inaccurate. While security forces carried out necessary measures to ensure territorial security that day, no peaceful locals were arrested. It is, in fact, PDF terrorists who have been involved in violent acts such as the arbitrary arrest and killing of local people, government employees, and monks who do not support them, as well as the forced recruitment of civilians.

Malicious news outlets spreading the false information attempted to cover up terrorists’ violent actions, in a bid to distort public perception and mislead people regarding the role of security forces.
