Since the post-independence period, Tatmadaw has been maintaining its traditions with an unwavering commitment to serve the nation. Just as Tatmadaw is an integral part of the country, Tatmadaw members are also a part of the people, and therefore, they must serve the interests of the people and the nation. This fundamental spirit has been nurtured and handed down by the retired senior Tatmadaw officers who previously served in Tatmadaw. The senior Tatmadaw officers have good and bad experiences. Tatmadaw has experienced various political systems throughout different eras and has repeatedly repelled and eliminated both internal and external threats that could dismantle the nation. In addition to defending against foreign invasions and preventing domestic unrest, Tatmadaw also plays a key role in preserving and safeguarding the nation, its people, religion, traditions, and culture. Taking lessons from past experiences, Tatmadaw will do the best for future plans.

Tatmadaw is serving State responsibilities under the 2008 Constitution. Tatmadaw is working to strengthen the multiparty democratic system, maintain national unity, and ensure the Union does not fall apart, all under the law. It will continue to act with dedication in the best interests of the nation and its citizens. Efforts will be made to shape Tatmadaw the State and the people can rely on. The military is committed to being a trusted institution for the people and a reliable force for the country.
