In honouring the 80th Anniversary of Armed Forces Day, Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing laid a wreath at the Memorial to Fallen Heroes (Nay Pyi Taw) yesterday morning.
After laying a wreath at the square of the Memorial to Fallen Heroes, the Senior General together with senior Tatmadaw officers saluted the fallen heroes who sacrificed lives in serving the defence and security duties of the State.
The Senior General and senior Tatmadaw officers signed the visitors’ book and visited there.
The Memorial to Fallen Heroes (Nay Pyi Taw) was established to honour Myanmar’s brave heroes who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the independence and sovereignty of the nation. It also serves as a tribute to those who demonstrated exceptional courage and dedication after the country achieved sovereignty, giving their lives in the process. The memorial aims to ensure that these heroes are forever remembered by future generations and to instil a deep sense of patriotism and willingness to sacrifice for the nation among the youth. It was inaugurated on 27 March 2017, under the guidance of the Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services. The interior walls of the memorial were decorated with the names of Aung San Thuriya, Thiha Thura, Thura title and gallantry medal winners who sacrificed lives in serving the State defence duties carved on the granite plaques with golden letters. Moreover, statues of five Aung San Thuriya title winning Tatmadaw members and one civilian are erected outside the memorial.
Also present on the occasion were SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Thiri Pyanchi Maha Thray Sithu Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Zeya Kyaw Htin Thray Sithu Kyaw Swa Lin, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Zeya Kyaw Htin Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Zeya Kyaw Htin Sithu Tun Aung, retired senior Tatmadaw officers and senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief.
