Following the severe earthquake on 28 March, Myanma Railways under the Ministry of Transport and Communications repaired damaged railway lines and bridges using manpower and machinery. Passenger and cargo trains, including container trains, resumed operations along the Yangon-Mandalay route starting on 5 April.
To further strengthen the railway infrastructure, reinforcement work is ongoing using All TM heavy machinery between several stations on the Yangon-Mandalay line: between Ywapale and Hanza stations, between Nyaunglunt and Magyibin stations and between Phyu and Nyaungbintha stations. Work includes gravel filling, packing and adjusting concrete sleepers.
To ensure convenient travel and transport, passenger and cargo trains No 103 Up and No 104 Down resumed regular service on the Pyinmana-Taungdwingyi-Pyinmana route starting 10 April. Train No 103 departs Pyinmana at 2 pm and arrives in Taungdwingyi at 8 pm. Train No 104 departs Taungdwingyi at 5 am the next morning and arrives in Pyinmana at 11 am. Each train consists of five ordinary class coaches and one brake van. Ticket fares and stopping stations remain unchanged.
