Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, who is also the First Vice-Chair of the National Disaster Management Committee, accompanied by Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Aung Kyaw Kyaw, Vice-Mayor U Maung Maung and relevant officials, inspected the construction of temporary camps and accommodation for quake-affected people, staff and their families in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The Union minister and party first observed the safe shelter, electricity, solar, water, toilets, clinics and kitchens at the temporary camps in Wunna Theikdi, Thukha Theikdi, Nyana Theikdi, Dhana Theikdi and Bala Theikdi wards.
During the inspection, the Union minister said the tents would be established for the people and staff before the monsoon season. The water, electricity and toilets will be fully provided at all the camps in addition to the clinics, health staff and medicines. Moreover, the staff whose accommodation will be repaired or constructed will be placed at the temporary Bashas before the monsoon.
At noon, 23 political parties donated K10 million and well-wishers from foreign countries K15.96 million for quake victims, and the Union minister received the cash donation.
