To rapidly meet the domestic cement demand for construction projects nationwide during this dry season and bolster domestic production, cement imports are being permitted.

Continuously arriving via the Kawthoung border trade station, a cement vessel carrying 1,500 tonnes reached Shweme Port in Shwepyitha Township, Yangon Region, on the evening of 9 April and is now being distributed in the market.

The import of cement required for domestic construction work has been allowed during this period, and in addition to this vessel, other vessels carrying cement will continue to arrive weekly.
