At the auspicious time of transitioning from the year 1386 to 1387 Myanmar Era, I send my heartfelt wishes that all the people of Myanmar and around the world may receive and enjoy good fortune, auspiciousness, and a prosperous time. May every citizen of Myanmar and people across the world be free from all five kinds of enemies and dangers starting from today. May you all enjoy peace of mind, good health, and prosperity. May you overcome the old year and enter the new year with happiness, peace, success, and abundance.
May all negative thoughts disappear, and may you gain prosperity and well-being. May good intentions, good actions, and good thoughts bring about positive outcomes and happiness. Today, not only in Myanmar but around the world, the elements are being disrupted. The four great elements—fire, water, air, and earth—are being damaged, and because of this, people in Myanmar and around the globe are experiencing mental and physical suffering and hardships. May all suffering be far away. May the misfortunes of the old year fade away, and may the new year be filled with prosperity and abundance.
When a person becomes human, their body is composed of the elements earth, fire, water, and air. When these elements are disrupted, suffering occurs. The internal elements are connected to external elements. Within the body, the defilements of greed, anger, delusion, pride, and wrong views burn continuously like flames, scorching the internal elements of human beings without pause.
In Myanmar, natural disasters occur. On top of that, due to moral and spiritual decline, people are suffering and facing poverty. These sufferings don’t happen because people want them to; they happen as a result of actions. If we do good, good things will happen. If we do bad, bad things will follow. According to the law of karma, when the internal fires of greed, anger, delusion, pride, and wrong views are burning, they lead to the destruction of external elements, causing living beings to suffer. To prevent such suffering, as we transition from the old year 1386 to the new year 1387 Myanmar Era, everyone — citizens and people of the world alike — is encouraged to strive to extinguish the internal fires of greed, anger, delusion, and pride within themselves.
During this Thingyan (Myanmar New Year) season, in Vipassana meditation centres, Dhamma is taught, shared, listened to, and practised. All people are basking under the rain of Dhamma. May all people of Myanmar and around the world attain mental peace, physical well-being, and a life of tranquility. As the old year fades away, may everyone enter the new year with a renewed mind, a refreshed self, and a new life filled with all forms of prosperity.
