The strong earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March has claimed 3,676 lives as of 19 April, with 4,824 injured and 121 missing across six severely affected regions and states.
Myanmar Fire Brigade and both local and international rescue teams conducted search and rescue operations promptly in affected areas. They managed to rescue 653 survivors trapped under collapsed buildings and recover the bodies of 759 deceased persons.
Local donors also provided financial aid and relief supplies to affected people, while international organizations, foreign countries, and charitable donors also offered their support. Between 7 pm on 18 April and 5 pm on 19 April, emergency aid from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) including tarpaulin tents, mosquito nets and other supplies weighing a total of 11.155 tonnes and bedding supplies weighing 1.163 tonnes from the Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation arrived at Yangon and Mandalay international airports.
The relief items donated by both local and international contributors are swiftly distributed to the affected people to ensure timely support.
