THE strong earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March claimed 3,735 lives as of 20 April, with 5,108 injured and 120 missing across six severely af fected regions and states.
Myanmar Fire Brigade and both local and international rescue teams are conducting search and rescue operations promptly in affected areas. They have managed to rescue 653 survivors trapped under collapsed buildings and recover the bodies of 762 deceased persons.
Local donors also provided financial aid and relief supplies to affected people, while international organizations, foreign countries, and charitable donors also offered their support. Between 7 pm on 19 April and 5 pm on 20 April, medical aid from Kunming, China weighing a total of 5.309 tonnes and medical aids weighing 93.235 tonnes from Chinese government and 0.771 tonne of medical aids from Yunnan Oversea Chinese Charity Foundation arrived at Yangon International Airport.
The relief items donated by both local and international contributors are swiftly distributed to the affected people to ensure timely support.
