A powerful earthquake struck Myanmar on 28 March, severely striking six regions and states. As of 23 April, the disaster has caused the deaths of 3,759 people and injuries to 5,107 others, with 114 individuals still reported missing.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing, led by the Myanmar Fire Brigade along with both local and international rescue teams. They continue to reach the affected areas in time and have successfully rescued 653 people alive from collapsed buildings. They have also recovered the bodies of 767 people.

Local and international donors are contributing money and relief materials to assist those affected by the earthquake. Between 7 pm on 22 April and 5 pm on 23 April, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Myanmar delivered 10.96 tonnes of aid, including tarpaulins and water purification tablets, to the Yangon International Airport.

Meanwhile, Shenzhen Salubris Pharmaceuticals Company Limited of China, through the China-Myanmar Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association, dispatched 2.004 tonnes of medical supplies to the Ministry of Health and Mandalay General Hospital.

These relief items are reaching the hands of affected people as quickly as possible.
