UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, authorities continued efforts to combat illegal trade across the country.

On 24 April, combined teams seized various illegal goods and vehicles at checkpoints in Mandalay Region, including industrial materials, consumer goods and foodstuffs, transported without official documents. The confiscated items included Hyundai Starex, Mitsubishi Fuso Trucks, Mitsubishi Canter Truck, King Long Bus, and Nissan Condor Truck, with a total estimated value of K732.684 million.

The confiscated items included Hyundai Starex, Mitsubishi Fuso Trucks, Mitsubishi Canter Truck, King Long Bus, and Nissan Condor Truck, with a total estimated value of K732.684 million.

On 25 April, illegal timber and charcoal, totalling approximately 20.842 tonnes and valued at K2.909 million, were seized in Nay Pyi Taw. In Taninthayi Region, further inspections resulted in the seizure of additional illegal timber. Moreover, trawlers and related materials were also seized.

Combined teams from the Customs Department, Sagaing Region and Kayin State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Forces conducted search and inspection over the goods and seized vehicles and undocumented materials approximately K370 million on 25 and 26 April. Action was taken against offenders for their smuggled and undocumented goods under the laws. During the period, authorities seized smuggled and undocumented materials approximately K1.138 billion in 40 cases.
