The Bangkok-based Thai–Myanmar Business Council held a handover ceremony yesterday at the Ministry of Health in Nay Pyi Taw for the donated medicines and medical supplies in support of the Ministry of Health’s earthquake response efforts.

At the ceremony, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win expressed his gratitude on behalf of the people of Myanmar for the donation of five dialysis machines, as well as medicines and medical supplies worth 3.6 million baht, for Myanmar’s earthquake response and rehabilitation efforts. He said the dialysis machines would be a great help in the treatment of kidney disease and noted that the donation reflected the cooperation and friendship between Myanmar and Thailand. The donated medicines will be delivered as soon as possible to Mandalay General Hospital and to health centres in Mandalay and Sagaing Regions.

Mr Kich Aungvitulsatit, Chairman of the Thai-Myanmar Business Council, then spoke about the donation.

The ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Health, representatives of the Thai-Myanmar Business Council, and representatives of the Federation of Thai Industries from Ranong Province, Thailand.

The first batch of medicines and medical supplies donated by the Thai-Myanmar Business Council arrived on 12 December, and the second batch is scheduled to arrive on 16 December.
