The government of Myanmar manages the combined team comprising security forces, administrative bodies and local authorities to raid illegal buildings in Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas where telecom fraud and online gambling activities are operated, and systematically dismantle the confiscated materials and illegal buildings used in the online scams and gambling activities. Yesterday, the authorities demolished 15 more illegal buildings in Section 3, and a total of 444 buildings out of 635 illegal buildings have so far been demolished in the KK Park area.
Yesterday, the authorities deported 127 individuals: 45 Ethiopians, 39 Ugandans, 25 Sri Lankans, six Burundians, three Rwandans, three Sierra Leoneans, two Cameroonians, one Mongolian, one Moroccan, one Kenyan and one Egyptian, through the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge II.
The combined team started searching operations in Myawady and its vicinity on 8 December and found four five-storey buildings yesterday, but no gambling-related materials or offenders.
To prevent future reuse of the materials in online scams and gambling activities in KK Park and Shwe Kokko areas in Myawady, the seized materials were incinerated systematically.
The government considers the eradication of telecom fraud and online gambling crimes as a national responsibility and, to ensure that such activities can no longer operate within Myanmar, will continue its efforts in coordination not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbouring countries.
