STAKEHOLDERS have been invited to collaborate in building the sustainable development of Myanmar’s maize sector, as efforts continue to promote new technologies, digital systems, and modern business processes to enhance international market competitiveness.
The Myanmar Corn Industrial Association (MCIA) announced on 9 March that it will cooperate with relevant organizations, the banking sector, and the private sector for the aforesaid purposes.
MCIA stated that it recognizes the importance of modernizing financial systems and boosting competitiveness for the sustainable growth of Myanmar’s maize sector. Specifically, the adoption of digital technology in agriculture and trade, along with the increased use of Cashless Payment Systems, plays a vital role in it.
By enabling digital payments between the stakeholders, the sector can achieve faster and more accurate transactions and a reduction in trade-related risks. Furthermore, MCIA highlighted that digital payment data will help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) gain better access to financial services and investment opportunities.
