Myanmar Pharmaceutical Factory (MPF) has completed research and pilot production of six new medicines, including treatments for diabetes, HIV, cancer, bone and joint diseases, and an anaesthetic, officials announced at a ceremony held at the Research Department in Insein Township, Yangon.

Speaking at the event, the Union Minister said the new medicines comprise two diabetes drugs, one HIV treatment, one medicine for bone and joint diseases, one cancer drug, and one anaesthetic. He said the achievement would strengthen public healthcare services while reducing reliance on imported medicines through domestic production.

The ceremony marked the successful completion of research and pilot production of the six medicines. MPF’s Managing Director officially opened the event, while the Research Department’s General Manager presented an overview of the development process. Attendees also toured an exhibition showcasing the new medicines and observed their production.

Later in the day, ministry officials held a separate meeting to discuss support measures for MSME development, including technology transfer and sector-specific initiatives. The meeting was attended by Union ministers, deputy ministers, senior officials, and other government representatives.
