Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) affimed its commitment to cooperaiton in clearing land mine in Myanmar, according to the meeting between the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, and the NPA yesterday.
The meeting between Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye and a delegation led by the NPA’s Country Director Ms Marte Graff Jenssen held at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed resettlements and the condition of carrying out humanitarian mine clearance works by relevant ministries and state governments after the National Strategy for the Closure of IDP Camps in Myanmar was unveiled.
They also talked about cooperation with international organizations including ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center-ARMAC and NPA on technical assistances and human resources development for mine clearance activities.
The meeting also discussed conducting mine risk education programmes, provide assistances for mine victims, and establish a mine action authority organization that can provide guidelines for mine risk.
