The first day meeting of Drug and Precursor Intelligence Specialists was held yesterday at the Mercure Hotel in Mandalay yesterday.
At the meeting, Secretary of the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control Chief of Myanmar Police Force Police Lt-Gen Aung Win Oo and Precursor Programme Manager of UNODC for Southeast Asia and the Pacific Mr Reiner Pungs made opening remarks.
Afterwards, the delegates from Myanmar, UNODC, ASEAN countries, Canada, Australia, Bangladesh and India discussed about the misuse of precursor chemicals, illegal drug production and trafficking, and latest conditions of drug producers and traffickers who are committing drug crimes in gang.
The UNODC coordinated over the discussions of the delegates, and sought ongoing cooperation and drawing up plans for eradication of illegal drug and precursor chemicals. Senior police officers led by Chief of Myanmar Police Force Police Lt-Gen Aung Win Oo, and delegates from Canada, Australia, Bangladesh, India, UNODC, DEA and AFP attended the meeting. The meeting will continue till 20 February.
