1. The Ministry of Health and Sports is closely monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19, with conducting surveillance at international gateways and at the public hospitals and private healthcare facilities.
2. A 32-year-old man from Gilbert of Arizona State in the United States, arrived in Myanmar on 22 February 2020 after his visit to Malaysia from 20 to 22 February and three-month stay in Harbin city of China. He suffered symptoms of vomit, diarrhoea, sore throat and fever on 25 February afternoon. He was taken to Yangon People’s Hospital on the following morning, and he was transferred to the Waibargi Special Hospital. He is regarded as a person under investigation with medical treatments, and his specimens will be sent to the National Health Laboratory (Yangon) for tests. He is not diagnosed with acute respiratory disease until now.
3. There are two patients under surveillance at the hospitals till 8 pm on 26 February 2020, and they were in good health conditions. Results from his diagnosis will be released in real-time report.
4. Although there is no laboratory confirmed case of COVID-19 until 26 February , the ministry is conducting roundthe-clock surveillance in upward momentum. As the COVID-19 is spreading in 34 countries, including China and some of its neighbouring countries, people are suggested to follow health awareness of the Ministry of Health and Sports on prevention of the disease.
