The Supreme Court of the Union will extend its test on new dispute settlement system in the six townships of Nay Pyi Taw Council area.

Chief Justice of the Union U Htun Htun Oo announced extension of the Court-Led Mediation Pilot Programme at Myanmar International Convention Centre-II in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The pilot programme will be introduced at the courts of Pyinmana, Lewe, Zabuthiri, Pobbathiri, Ottathiri and Dekkhinathiri after it was successfully tested at the two district-level courts and two township courts in 2019 under the Strategic Objective 5.3 of establishing efficient and effective court dispute resolutions system of the Judicial Strategic Plan (2018-2022).

The Chief Justice of the Union said the pilot programme will be initiated across the country before it is expected to approve for implementation by 2020, and he requested all the relevant organizations to coordinate with his office for the success of programme which was designed to help settle civil lawsuits.

Mr Karasawa Masayuki from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) expressed his appreciation for the role of their agency to assist in conducting the pilot programme and pledged for further supports.

U Myo Tint, the Judge of Supreme Court of the Union, reported the success of Court-Led Mediation Pilot Programme during its trial period from 1 March 2019 to 29 February 2020.

Director-General Daw Tin Nwe Soe from the Office of the Union Judiciary Supervision presented reviews and future plans.
