UNION Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry U Soe Win delivered an opening speech at the launching ceremony of Myanmar Entry into the ASEAN Single Window at the Park Royal Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the event, the Union Minister said the Custom Department of the ministry was working on its transition from the document-based works to the electronic-based office system under the commitments with the ASEAN.
Before fully implementing the National Single Window, Myanmar made National Single Window Routing Platform with the support of USAID since 2018 to send Form Ds issuing from Trade Administrative Department to the ASEAN countries.
As a first step, Myanmar on 9th December, 2019, Myanmar entered into the ASEAN Single Window Live Operation after linking the Country of Original Certificate (AITGA e-Form D) with the ASEAN nations.
The work for exchanging the ASEAN Customs Declaration Document-ACDD and electronic Sanitary and Phytosanitary (e-SPS) are underway with the assistance of the USAID.
Following the speech of Union Minister U Soe Win, Director-General U Min Min of the Directorate of Trade and Mission Director Ms Teresa McGhie of the USAID delivered addresses respectively.
According to the ASEAN agreements, Myanmar might exchange electronically ATIGA Form D within the region. The main reason is to reduce paper works. Myanmar exporters and importers will be able to access and complete Form D more easily, which will lead to reduced time and cost as well as dramatic improvement in the accuracy and speed in processing through the ASEAN Single Window and it will also help increase transparency and more efficiency. Myanmar became the 8th country of the ASEAN block for ASEAN Single Window Live Operation on 9th December. As a second step, the ministry would take measures for exchange of ACDD and e-SPS based on AITGA e-Form D.
