THE Government and the ethnic armed organizations signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement-NCA (NCA-S EAO) held a work coordination meeting in Yangon yesterday in preparation for implementing the decisions made at the 8th Joint Implementation Coordination Meeting-JICM.
Speaking at the meeting at the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre in Yangon, Union Attorney-General U Tun Tun Oo said the meeting would discuss the issues related to the framework agreements and implementing post-2020 tasks step by step and seeking the basic agreements between the two sides.
“The aforementioned issues would be signed as the Part-3 of the Union Accord at the fourth session of the Union Peace Conference-21st Century Panglong, and it would become a milestone of our history,” said U Tun Tun Oo.
He also stressed the importance of negotiations to reach agreement for political basic principles, urging the two sides to create a good situation in which both sides can continue dialogues for strengthening the ceasefire and integration.
“Today, we will discuss the issues related to holding national level political dialogues and preparation for holding the UPDJC meeting. Similarly, this meeting will also discuss the ways for inclusion of the ethnic organizations which have not yet signed the NCA to the peace process,” said Sao Sai Ngin, leader of the framework agreement negotiation leader of the NCA implementation.
The meeting was also attended by Lt-Gen Yar Pyae of the Ministry of Defence (Army), Lt-Gen Min Naung and Lt-Gen Tin Maung Win, Secretary of the Peace Commission Lt-Gen Khin Zaw Oo, Pyithu Hluttaw MP U Pyone Cho (a) U Htay Win Aung, members of the Peace Commission U Hla Maung Shwe, U Moe Zaw Oo and Director-General of the State Counsellor Office U Zaw Htay while the ethnic armed organizations side was led by Sao Sai Ngin, NCA Implementation Coordinator U Myo Win and members of the negotiation team U Hla Htay, Saw Mya Yarzar Lin, Dr Hlyan Hmone Sar Khaung, Salai Hta Hlar Hay, Saw Sein Win, Pado Saw Tar Do Mu, Pado Saw Al Kalusae, Saw Kyaw Nyunt and Nai Aung Ma Ngay, Dr Sai Oo and Nan Yin Yin Soe.
The meeting continues today.
