A military helicopter carrying military attachés crashed in a village in Kutkai shortly after taking off yesterday. There were no fatalities, but two pilots were injured in the accident.
The accident occurred around 3:40 pm yesterday when local and foreign mediapersons and military attachés from foreign embassies in Yangon were headed to Kutkai to cover the seizure of narcotic drugs and precursors worth K93 billion by the military between 28 February and 4 March around Kaungkha and Lwekham villages in Kutkai Township, Shan State (North).
The injured pilots, who controlled the helicopter so that there was minimum damage until it touched land, are not in critical condition, said a press release issued by the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services. The journalists and military attachés were transported by the remaining helicopters from the village to Lashio, and from thence, they were taken to Yangon by a Tatmadaw flight.
They landed in Yangon at 7:20 pm, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
